Led by Eliptica CSO and co-founder Markus Ralser, the study extends high-throughput plasma proteomics to protein glycosylation using oxonium-ion scanning and DIA, with application to severe COVID-19. The work highlights an important advantage of mass spectrometry: the ability to capture phenotype-relevant post-translational modifications alongside protein abundance at cohort scale, expanding the biological information available for biomarker discovery and disease modelling.
